After studying the paranormal for many years, one tends to identify them selves with different types of hauntings. There are mainly three types of hauntings that go on; Residual, Interactive, and even rarer: Demonic Hauntings. Out of the three types of hauntings, residual and interactive are more common. However you still have a good chance of running into a demonic haunting.

Have you ever heard the story of a friend walking around at night, and seeing an old war go on in front of there very eyes? Or possibly see the same thing happen night after night? This would be referred to as a Residual Haunting. In a short definition, a residual haunting is a playback of something that happened in the past.  Somehow this event has imprinted itself into the area, possibly relating to a very emotional time. Sometimes you wont even see a spirit in this type of haunting. You may have some encounters where you just hear the same foot steps at a certain time, or voices. If it’s a repeat of it’s self then it is a residual haunting. The good thing about this haunting is, it’s just a playback. This mean’s the ghost you may see does not see you. So there is no threat to you there.

The second haunting is of a human that has passed away. This is also referred to as an Interactive Haunting. For this type of haunting you might see a full or partial apparition. Sometimes you might not see anything at all. You might hear odd noises, like singing, voices, footsteps, or even bangs on the wall. Another thing that might get your attention is your sense of smell. In some hauntings you may smell roses, perfume, smoke, possibly anything the spirit liked in there lifetime. This type of haunting can be dangerous, due to the fact that it was once human. However most of the time the spirit is just trying to get your attention to let you know it’s there. Many people worry about these hauntings, and wonder why the spirit is still here. The reason may vary; unfinished business, guilt, or even scared of moving on. In some cases, the spirit may not even know its dead.

The third type of haunting is a Demonic Haunting. In this case, the demon haunting you was never a human. It is pretty rare to find this type of haunting, and if you do it may be very dangerous. They do like to disguise them selves as good spirits sometimes and this might even lead to the demon trying to hurt, kill, or take over your body. This is one haunting that I am going through right now. I just moved to Wyoming, and I live near an Indian reservation. There are stories of a clown ghost walking around driving many teenagers to suicide. Stories such as this are pretty dangerous, and you should try to stay away from them. This is why many ghost investigators believe in saying a quick prayer before and after an investigation.
